LATHE MACHINE

Lathe is by far the most popular of all machine tools. At the core of any lathe tool, there are so many of them, is a turning wheel. The wheel rotates, allowing the user to shape the raw material according to their original design. Lathe isn’t exactly a new design either. One of the earliest – and still used – from of a lathe tool is the potter’s wheel. Before the advent of the electric motor, the wheel would be powered by manual force. Since the invention of the electric motor, potter wheels are powered by electricity.
There are two major categories of lathe tools.

·         Wood working
·         Metal working
Depending on the raw material used and the final intention of the lathe machine, it is possible to further divide lathe machine tool into so many categories. Despite the existence of so many lathe tools, they all pretty much do the same thing. Lathe tools can be divided into two parts. The primary portion is the machine that creates the rotation effect. The second part is the mechanism that holds the object being worked upon, firmly in place.
A number of objects can be formed using lathe tools. One of the prime examples is pottery and all clay based products. Other objects that are made using lathe include objects such as rods, bats and even gun barrels.
